Raiders Camp Off Day Means Las Vegas Sports Business Roundup Time

Circa Las Vegas hotel-casino owner Derek Stevens is a brilliant marketing man, but even he wouldn’t try to combine Circa’s mammoth sportsbook with the hotel’s popular Stadium Swim pool area.

Thursday’s torrential downpour caused a nasty water mess in Circa’s giant sportsbook as workers tried to clean up the water the best they could. It didn’t take long for the water videos to start hitting the ol’ Twitter.

Former MGM Resorts executive and current Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff will be the star of the show for Pac-12 Media Day after conference brand name sports programs USC and UCLA bolted for the Big Ten.

Here’s the Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern with this news nugget today: “The UFC has teamed up with the Amazon Merch on Demand platform to put some new merchandise on offer. The fighting property this week started making several items with new designs — like T-shirts, hoodies and cell phone cases — available through a catalogue that it launched with Amazon Merch On Demand. That is Amazon’s product that allows content creators to upload their own designs and have them printed as merchandise whenever someone buys it. The new line will be available on UFC’s e-commerce site, run by Zappos. UFC SVP/Global Consumer Products Tracey Bleczinski helped set up the deal.”

According to Front Office Sports, James is investing in Canyon Bicycles:


The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson is hosting its first-ever Summer Bash and School Supply Drive on Thursday, August 4. The community is invited to the Tiltyard, TDLC’s outdoor plaza area, for a day of family-friendly fun that will include water slides, yard games, a dunk tank, a live DJ, and more. Food and beverage options will also be available for purchase. Admission to the Summer Bash is free.

All attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies or a cash donation, which will be distributed to local Henderson schools in need of supplies for the upcoming academic year. The full list of requested supplies is below. In addition, the community can expect appearances from select Vegas Golden Knights, Henderson Silver Knights, and Vegas Knight Hawks personnel. Player appearances are subject to change.
