Alex Rodriguez may have played more than 20 years in the Big Leagues and won three MVP awards in the American League. But at the NBA Summer League and the owners meeting in Las Vegas this week, Rodriguez was just a rookie among team owners.
As a minority team owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rodriguez chatted courtside with Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, attended an owners meeting and took in a Timberwolves-Bucks game this week.
Thursday was one of the more quiet days at the July 7-17 NBA Summer League with attendance of 8,279, though crowds should get bigger for Saturday’s action.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also used the NBA Summer League to provide an update on the league, mentioning that the NBA generated more than $10 billion in annual revenue.
