The Vegas Golden Knights were sliding in the standings and stood six points behind the Los Angeles Kings when LA arrived at T-Mobile Arena for a division game Saturday afternoon.

The Knights are in a dogfight to make the playoffs and hope that a long list of injured players can get much shorter.

Third-string goalie Logan Thompson skated into the net for the VGK Saturday for the 1PM matinee and he played solid for the first half of the game as the Golden Knights led, 2-0, after goals by Evgenii Dadonov and Chandler Stephenson.

But in period two, the Kings cut into the lead when forward Phillip Danault notched his 19h goal of the season when he flipped a backhander past Thompson.

The VGK answered with a goal by forward Mattias Janmark, his eighth and the Knights led, 3-1, after two periods.

The Golden Knights didn’t player spectacular, but they played smart.

Thompson was solid in goal. And Alex Pietrangelo scored an empty-netter for a 4-1 lead.

Michael Amadio scored up a mop-up goal to finalize the score at Golden Knights 5 Kings 1.
