After two periods, it was the Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken, tied at two, after second periods goals by the Kraken’s Yanni Gourde and the Knights’ Evgenii Dadonov. Both scored late in the middle stanza.
Golden Knights highlights: Newly-acquired Golden Knights player Jack Eichel — he of the herniated disc in the neck who is bound for Denver for disc replacement surgery Friday — cranked the siren to start the game.]
Original Misfit Brayden McNabb lined up Seattle’s Brandon Tanev and leveled the Kraken player in the first period.
And VGK defenseman Alex Pietrangelo scored his third of the season with only 26 seconds left in period one on a soft shot that Kraken goalie Chris Driedger probably should have gloved.
Our non-mask-complying attendants of the games are this pair — Golden Knights executives George McPhee, president of hockey operations, and Kelly McCrimmon, the general manager.
Unlike the Las Vegas Raiders and the UNLV basketball team, which both require proof of vaccination from fans to attend games, the Golden Knights request their fans to wear face masks to comply with the state/local indoor mask mandate.
Many fans do not comply and McPhee and McCrimmon do not, as well, as you can see in this photo.

It’s not exactly exquisite hockey played out there in the first two periods. After managing 11 shots on goal in the first period, the Knights could add only five in the second period.
Both teams were mucking it up out there. The game had the feel of a preseason affair and with the Golden Knights coping with so many injuries, their lineup resembled an exhibition game squad.

The Golden Knights opened the third period with two quick goals — one by defenseman Shea Theodore and a power play goal by Reilly Smith.
The VGK led the Kraken, 4-2, in the final period.
DeBoer: “We’ve committed to defending hard, we’ve got great goaltending, some timely goals and we’ve found a way to win some games.”
And that was the final: Knights 4 Kraken 2
Final quote of the night from Theodore: “We’ve had a lot of guys step up and play key minutes for us. It comes down to being a collective effort from everyone. Nobody has to do it by themselves.”
