The big Global Gaming Expo show — or just G2E — is wrapping up its four-day run in Las Vegas this week.

Thus being the Golden Age of Sports Gambling, there are lots of sports betting angles in this trade show, which is usually a high-powered convention with lots of guys in suits but no ties and booze flowing at the colorful slot machine maker displays.

But the coronavirus pandemic has taken a healthy bite out of the G2E show’s vibe, with, lots of space along the aisles and even open space on the floor of the Sands Expo. Everyone is masked up.

Companies known by only their initials like IGT and AGS and ones that are not — Aristocrat Gaming and Scientific Games, for example — are here. But that high-energy buzz you felt from previous years is just not here for 2021.

Sports betting and sportsbooks are hot topics.

My favorite display was the company that makes special chairs just for sportsbooks. There were several booths showing casino chairs. But this company showed an assortment of chairs just for the sportsbook environment.

The G2E show wraps up Thursday at 3 PM.
