The Las Vegas Raiders are taking some pre-emptive steps to try and make sure that fans who are vaccinated, or partially inoculated against the coronavirus, will be able to attend Monday’s Raiders vs Baltimore Ravens game at Allegiant Stadium.
The Raiders are the first NFL team to require every single fan who attends home games in 2021 to show proof of vaccination. It’s controversial because there are still many people who oppose vaccinations and have been misled about the inoculation because of inaccurate or false information about the coronavirus vaccination.
To get a head start on the proof of vaccination, the Raiders are holding two sessions over the weekend — from 1PM – 6 PM on both Saturday and Sunday — at Lot B at Allegiant Stadium. These sessions are for attendees “unable to use the Clear Health Pass to verify their vaccination status.”
Raiders owner Mark Davis announced about three weeks ago that fans would be required to download the CLEAR app in order to upload their vaccination proof. The sessions on Saturday and Sunday are for fans who have tickets to attend, but are having problems verifying their vax with the Clear app. The sessions are for fans who:
- are partially vaccinated by Sept. 13
- had a vaccine that isn’t supported by the CLEAR app (any vaccine other than Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson / Janssen)
- have a digital vaccine card/a photo of a vaccine card that is unable to be uploaded to the CLEAR app
- are bringing a vaccinated or partially vaccinated 12-13-year-old guests who are unable to be added to the CLEAR Health Pass

The Raiders discussed the vaccination requirement with Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, who issued an emergency directive that allowed the Raiders to require fans attending all home games to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination for events hosting more than 4,000 people. The trade-off is that fans will not have to wear masks at the Monday Night Football game inside the domed, 65,000-seat stadium. Davis said it was impossible for stadium staff to enforce the county’s indoor mask mandate.
The Raiders are urging fans who plan to attend Monday’s game to clear up any screening issues over the weekend.
“For the best gameday experience on Monday night, fans are encouraged to complete alternate screening at the stadium prior to gameday,” the Raiders wrote in a release Wednesday.
The Raiders are the first NFL team to require vaccination proof in order to attend a game. The New Orleans Saints are requiring either a vax proof or a negative COVOD-19 test. The respiratory disease has killed about 650,000 Americans and the virus’s delta variant is highly contagious.
The Seattle Kraken, the NHL’s new expansion team, said this week that all home game fans will be required to show proof of COVID vaccination to attend the games.
The Vegas Golden Knights, which start preseason play Sept. 26 with a game against the San Jose Sharks, are not requiring vaccination proof of home game fans. The current county protocol is that all people in indoor places are required to mask up.
Davis said he is vaccinated. Not only will fans be required to show vax proof at Raiders home games in 2021, MNF is the first regular-season game with fans for the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. No fans attended home games in the team’s inaugural season in Las Vegas because of the COVID pandemic.
