The exodus of Las Vegas Raiders front office personnel, including former team president Marc Badain, came at a time when the NFL team found accounting problems that were unearthed during an internal investigation, according to two media reports and posts.
The accounting issues were tied to “financial irregularities” and “money not reported as income,” according to the media reports and posts.
Besides Badain leaving July 19, team Chief Financial Officer Ed Villanueva, and Controller Araxie Grant also left several months ago. Brandon Doll, the Raiders’ former vice president of strategy and business development, “left the Raiders for reasons outside of the accounting issues,” the sports business site, Front Office Sports, reported.
Forbes’ Mike Ozanian, who reports on sports money issues, also posted this item Tuesday:
The Raiders already made national news this week for announcing a new vaccination policy for fans attending Raiders home games at Allegiant Stadium starting with the season-opener Sept. 13 when the Baltimore Ravens visit Las Vegas for Monday Night Football. Fans must show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination to attend at Allegiant Stadium. They will be allowed to not wear masks if they are immunized against the coronavirus.
Badain had spent 30 years with the Raiders, including the last six as team president. He started as an intern in 1991.
We contacted the Raiders PR staff for a response and will share it when we hear back. The Raiders just held their first preseason game with fans inside Allegiant Stadium on Saturday.
