Tampa Bay Lightning Halfway Home To Reaching Stanley Cup Final

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

For those expecting a Vegas vs Tampa Stanley Cup Final, the Lightning took another step toward holding up its end of the bargain on Long Island Thursday night.

The Lightning, the defending Cup champions from the COVID-19 bubble last season, scored a 2-1 win over the New York islanders thanks to another game-winner from the clutch Braydon Point.

Point scored with only 20 seconds left in the second period to give Tampa that 2-1 advantage.

And Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy took it from there, holding on to the one-goal through the third period against the Islanders.

The Lightning now lead the Best-of-7 Final 4 semifinals two games to one, with game four in New York on Saturday.

Yanni Gourde scored for the Lightning in period one to open the scoring.

The Islanders’ Cal Clutterbuck tied the game at one goal apiece before Point delivered the game-winner late in the second period.

The Golden Knights play Montreal in Game 3 Friday in Canada. Game 4 will be Sunday before the series returns to Las Vegas for Game 5 on Tuesday.
