NHL Final 4: In Tampa, Lightning Tie Series With 4-2 Win Over Islanders Tuesday

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

The Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders are locked at one game apiece in the Stanley Cup semifinals after the Lightning rebounded from Sunday’s Game 1 loss with a 4-2 win at Amalie Arena in Tampa Tuesday evening.

The NHL Final 4 series shifts to Long Island after the Lightning relied on goals by outstanding postseason goal-scorer Brayden Point, Ondrej Palat and defensemen Jan Rutta and Victor Hedman. It was Rutta’s first postseason goal. Tampa playmaker Nikita Kucherov added three assists.

Tampa goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy played solid in shutting down the Islanders.

The Islanders-Tampa winner plays the winner of Montreal vs Vegas in the other semifinal. The Golden Knights took game 1 on Monday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Attendance at Amalie Arena was 14,771 tonight.

The Islanders goals were scored by Brock Nelson and Mat Barzal.

Games 3 and 4 are in New York Thursday and Saturday, and then Game 5 is in Tampa Monday.
