After officials limited Las Vegas Motor Speedway to 15 percent attendance capacity (12,500 fans) for a NASCAR weekend earlier this month, local and state officials gave the green light to the Speedway to have 50 percent capacity for the April 16-18 Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Four-wide Nationals at The Strip at the Speedway.
As a result, the Speedway reported Wednesday that it has sold all grandstand tickets for the NHRA Four-wide Nationals in mid-April.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas Aviators President Don (“Donny Baseball”) Logan told LVSportsBiz.com Tuesday that he anticipates that fan capacity at the Aviators’ ballpark in Summerlin will also be at 50 percent in May. He said the ballpark can hold just a little under 12,000 people.
The Aviators led Minor League Baseball in attendance in 2019 before the minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The Aviators, owned by Summerlin master developer Howard Hughes Corporation, are the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. They are scheduled to start their season May 6 against the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, at Las Vegas Ballpark.
It looks like the Speedway will be the first sports venue in Las Vegas to have 50 percent fan attendance capacity under Gov. Steve Sisolak’s most recent directive. The Vegas Golden Knights are currently at 22 percent attendance capacity, or 3,950 fans, at T-Mobile Arena, which has 17,367 fixed seating capacity.
The Speedway has ended sales of all grandstand seating and noted there also will be no walkup sales on the day of the event. But the Speedway does have a limited number of suite deals remaining for the weekend.
Fans who have tickets for the event are required to wear face coverings at all times, maintain proper social distancing and remember that all concession and souvenir transactions are cashless.
