Today is July 12, exactly four months after the National Hockey League turned off the lights at the Big Ice House by the Strip and the other NHL arena across North America. Four months off is like the summer break between seasons — only this break caused by a novel coronavirus pandemic that has claimed the lives of more than 135,000 Americans is within the 2019-20 season.
Here are 10 questions for Vegas Golden Knights fans accompanied by photos by LVSportsBiz.com photographer J. Tyge O’Donnell:
1: One-third of a calendar year has passed since the Great Pause of March 12. Does the made-for-TV hockey tournament feel like an authentic Stanley Cup postseason to you?
2: What have you been doing during these four months to deal with your fix for Golden Knights hockey?
3: If you’re a season ticket holder, has anything changed regarding your opinion about the Golden Knights ticket representatives or management?
4: Will you be watching the Golden Knights on TV at home or will you go out to any game watch events?
5: If VGK fans gather at any watch events, do you have any concerns that they would get infected with the coronavirus?
6: Have you purchased any Golden Knights merchandise during these four months? If you have bought logo gear, what have you bought?
7: Has your interest in the Vegas Golden Knights stayed the same or gone up or down during the pandemic?
8: What have you missed most about not being able to go to VGK home games?
9. During the pandemic, the Vegas Golden Knights announced that the name of their Triple A American Hockey League team is the Henderson Silver Knights. Will you be attending Silver Knights games and how much money will you spend on the Silver Knights per year?
10: Has the pandemic changed your perspective on the Vegas Golden Knights or changed any of your priorities regarding what is important in your life?
