Aerial Views of Raiders Stadium From Tom Donoghue

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

It’s impossible to predict when fans will be allowed to attend events at the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium in light of a coronavirus pandemic that has claimed the lives of 120,000 Americans.

But the Raiders’ Mortenson-McCarthy construction team has forged ahead with construction, with COVID-19 health warning signs, sanitizer stations and must-wear mask instructions at all construction entrances.

Las Vegas photographer Tom Donoghue hitched a helicopter ride recently for a bird’s eye view of the 65,000-seat, domed venue that has the exterior look of a Darth Vader mask.  Others have described it as a gigantic hockey puck or a Roomba. Raiders owner Mark Davis wanted architects to design the stadium with the look of a sleek sports car.

Donoghue also took photos of the MSG Sphere Las Vegas. There was some news from Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp., which is partnering with Sheldon Adelson’s Sands Corp. on the project.

MSG said 35-year entertainment industry veteran Ted King will join the company as president of creative content and studio productions. King will lead MSG Sphere Studios, a bi-coastal creative studio focused on developing content for the MSG Sphere – the world’s first large-scale venue to combine cutting-edge technology with multi-sensory storytelling to deliver fully immersive experiences..

King will report to MSG Entertainment CEO James Dolan.

Donoghue, who has photographed everything from Super Bowls to NFR rodeo events to Detroit Tigers baseball games, also captured other images of the Strip.
