Circa Hotel-Casino In Downtown Las Vegas Hits Milestone With Topping Off Construction Ceremony Friday

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

You have to hand it to Derek Stevens. I always admired the guy for wearing pinstripe suits in the dead of Las Vegas summer, walking the Fremont Street Experience near his The D Las Vegas hotel-casino and having the guts to build the $1 billion Circa hotel-casino project in downtown Las Vegas that will have a three-story tall sports book mega-screen.

Circa marked a construction milestone Friday morning with a topping off ceremony on Main Street, where media gathered for the photo opps. It marks the final beam in the construction being done by McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.

Stevens this week posted a video on Twitter saying that the hotel-casino will be open for business no later than Dec. 28, while amenities such as bars, restaurants and the sports book opening Oct. 28.

“You can circle the date,” Stevens said.

Circa Sports is the hotel’s sports gambling brand, already in action at The D and Golden Gate casinos and involved in a deal with casinos in Colorado.

Expect Circa to be one of downtown Las Vegas’ major destinations — even as the Las Vegas tourism and hospitality industry copes with a coronavirus pandemic.
