The Raiders are giving the public a peak at the Al Davis Memorial Torch, which is a highly visual reminder to the NFL team’s former owner and the club’s glorious past.
The Raiders have not enjoyed much of a winning record recently, but the Raiders were an NFL power under Davis, who died at the age of 82 in October 2011. He was the owner and general manager for nearly four decades from 1972 to 2011.
The torch is a giant with 3D special effects standing at 85 feet tall at the new Allegiant Stadium. Over at the Oakland Coliseum, the Raiders’ former home, celebrities have lit the torch.
At the Raiders’ new Allegiant Stadium, a 65,000-seat domed venue, huge sliding doors open and close to reveal the Al Davis torch.
On Thursday morning, it was getting some sun.
