The Raiders stadium exterior may look nearly complete, but hundreds of workers are toiling away on the inside installing everything from scoreboards and seats to stainless steel railings in the upper bowl to UNLV football lockers installed on the event level.

LVSportsBiz.com looked at the latest report compiled by Las Vegas-based Grand Canyon Development Partners, the company reviewing and monitoring the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium construction progress for the public Las Vegas Stadium Authority. The Grand Canyon overview is part of the stadium authority’s latest completed staff report.

The stadium project budget — the costs for everything from stadium construction to land acquisition to professional fees — is $1.97 billion. The stadium authority report said “substantial complettion” is on schedule for July 31, while “project closeout” on the 62.5-acre site is set for Oct. 31. The palatial domed venue has 124 suites and 77.6 percent of the project budget has been spent.

Grand Canyon Development used video of the event level and video conferencing with the owner, contractor and architect to get a handle on what has been installed. Here’s Grand Canyon’s list of stadium construction “notable achievements”:

There’s a lot of activity at the site, which is on the west side of I-15 across from Mandalay Bay hotel-casino, about a 15-minute walk on Hacienda Avenue from the Strip to the stadium.

Workers are removing scaffolding on the exterior, while they are also being tested for COVID-19, the worldwide virus that leads to respiratory problems. LVSportsBiz.com reported that seven workers have tested positive for the novel coronavirus and that the Southern Nevada Health District is helping Mortenson/McCarthy, the stadium team building the venue, test workers for the virus.
