The traffic around Las Vegas Convention Center is a mess with the mega CES show in Las Vegas, but 1,000 feet above the west side of Interstate 16 with a view of the Strip and the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium under construction there’s no congestion at all.
The 246-foot long Goodyear blimp named Wingfoot Three is zipping along nicely at a 35 mph c;lip and I’m along a half-dozen journalists soaking up the joy ride’s aerial views.
We do a 45-minute trip from the North Las Vegas Airport to as far south as Mandala Bay hotel-casino and do a U-turn just before reaching the Raiders’ $1.97 billion stadium project on the west side of the interstate and the Strip.
Our pilots were Taylor Dean and William Bayliss, who nosedived the blimp at a 26-degree angle when landing at the North Las Vegas Airport to give us something to write home about. Check out the video of the landing approach.
Dean is fresh off the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl assignment in Pasadena on Jan. 1 — just the latest in Goodyear’s 65-year history of being part of the TV broadcast coverage of everything from Super Bowls to NASCAR races. Here’s a nice summary.
At CES, Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear announced the creation of “AnGo,” a vehicle servicing platform that will help consumer fleets.
