Rugby Games Being Discussed For Las Vegas Ballpark In February

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

Details still need to be ironed out, but there’s an effort underway to stage rugby games at the Las Vegas Aviators ballpark in Summerlin in February.

Rob Cornelius, of Emersion Entertainment, said Monday he’s not prepared to discuss the rugby events at Las Vegas Ballpark because there are some more details that need to be finalized.

Cornelius said he should be able to discuss the rugby event by the end of the week. There were rugby games listed for the ballpark on a website called rugbynevada.com, but the site wasn’t available after LVSportsBiz.com called Cornelius Monday about the rugby event for February.

You might recognize Cornelius’ name from the USA Sevens Tournament that was a international rugby event staged at Sam Boyd Stadium in March.

But the USA Sevens rugby event has left Las Vegas. Cornelius helped promote and market the USA Sevens tourney, which was the subject of a lawsuit filed earlier this year.

Cornelius and a partner at Emersion, a sports promotion and entertainment outfit, have also been involved in the idea of having a Las Vegas team  in a U.S. rugby league called Major League Rugby.
