(UPDATED Saturday)
Last year’s NBA Summer League drew nearly 140,000 fans in 12 days to the UNLV campus and this year the annual Woodstock of pro basketball has already sold out its first day at Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion.
The NBA Summer League tweeted out today: “Due to your incredible support, games on both Friday, July 5th and Saturday, July 6th are SOLD OUT! If you are a ticket-holder for either day please arrive early to secure a seat.”
The buzz around this year’s NBA Summer League, which is set for July 5-15, is heightened by the first-day match-up of Zion Williamson’s New Orleans Pelicans and RJ Barrett’s New York Knicks. Williamson was the first overall draft pick, while his former Duke teammate, Barrett, was taken third overall by New York.
The Summer League’s 11-day, 83-game schedule has become a July rite in Las Vegas, where scouts and general managers from pro teams and leagues around the world come to Sin City to watch the rookies and young players of all 30 NBA teams show their skills. The teams’ undrafted players also get a shot at displaying their abilities.
The Chinese and Croatian national teams will be joining the 30 NBA clubs. LVSportsBiz.com’s NBA Summer League content is sponsored by AdoreOil.
