The Las Vegas Lights handed out 3,000 luchador capes Saturday night — capes that the Lights players actually wore during the game introductions.

During Year 1, the Lights gave away the luchador masks, so you see where the Las Vegas soccer team is going here — year by year the United Soccer League club is assembling the mask plus cape wrestler outfits.

And you can say the same for the team itself, which is still trying to build a winning product on the pitch at Cashman Field. The Lights took a step in the right direction Saturday when they defeated the Sacramento Republic FC, 4-2, in downtown Las Vegas.

The Lights have won three games, lost four and tied two — good for 11th place in the USL’s Western Conference. The Lights’ attendance was announced at 7,478 — and the team is in the top five in attendance in the United Soccer League.
