Aviators’ New Ballyard Big Letters Arrive for Main Sign: Las Vegas Ballpark; Venue Opens in One Month

The gigantic letters arrived by truck trailer this week. And then they were installed letter by massive letter — “LAS VEGAS BALLPARK”

By Saturday morning, walkers, bicyclists and motorists passing the new ballpark that opens one month from today could see the official name for the $150 million, 10,000-fan, 22-suite, 1-swimming pool venue that is coming along quickly under the construction team of Hunt-Penta.

Metro police officers on motorcycle spent several days recently stopping speeding motorists along South Pavilion Center Drive where the ballpark is located in Downtown Summerlin. But LVSportsBiz.com observed more speeders Saturday without police around to hand out tickets.

To find out how the Aviators’ new ballpark was named, “Las Vegas Ballpark,” you can read this.

In other Aviators ballyard news, crews continue to work on a park area across the street from the ballpark that appears to be a spot where fans will gather to walk across South Pavilion Center Drive to reach the venue.

In beer news, the cost for beers during Thursday night beer nights at new Aviators stadium has doubled to $2 from the one buck beers at Cashman Field.

The Dollar Beer Nights at Cashman Field was a popular attraction for 51s fans. But those were the old days. Now those beers will be $2 instead of $1.

Every day at the ballpark site has dozens of workers doing everything from setting the sidewalk area in front of the venue to installing the air systems.  Crews are working two shifts to get the ballpark ready for opening day when the Aviators host the Sacramento River Cats.

In sponsorship news, Howard Hughes Corporation, the Aviators’ owner and the developer of Downtown Summerlin and the massive suburban Summerlin plan, has a new multi-year partnership designating The Valley Health System as the official founding healthcare partner of the minor league baseball team and the Las Vegas Ballpark.

LVSportsBiz.com also checked out that other stadium construction site — the $1.8 billion project to build a new domed football stadium for the Raiders. Check out these photos and video from Saturday.

And one extra venue thrown in on this bike ride today — maybe you know it: It turns out the arena is rather popular.

LVSportsBiz.com will be at Cashman Field tonight for the Las Vegas Lights FC’s season opener. Owner Brett Lashbrook has guaranteed a Lights win over the Austin Bold tonight, or he will give all fans in the stadium free tickets to the next home game March 30.
