Ice skaters shared the Golden Knights training center rinks with venue improvement workers Thursday as the City National Arena gets fresh paint and an expanded team store.

More Arsenal store improvements await.

Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz explained to Henderson Chamber of Commerce members last week at the training center that the VGK staff filled City National Arena/team headquarters late last summer before the inaugural season before some of the final training facility paint work and other jobs were finalized.

The front counter gets the City National Arena improved look, too.

So, the Golden Knights are catching up this summer to add lots of paint to the ice rink walls, expand the Arsenal team store to add more space with a more impressive entry and even create a display area where the first season’s highlights will be showcased.

Wall decorations will be installed.

The Golden Knights’ practice rink is also getting a home improvement with castle-style trimming to the scoreboard.

A practice rink scoreboard fit for a castle.

City National Arena is more than a practice facility. It’s a ice rink community center complete with a MacKenzie River pizzeria owned by VGK owner Bill Foley, who spent $31 million on the facility in Summerlin near Red Rock Resort and Downtown Summerlin.

On Monday, there was a line of team store customers getting ready to buy several special deals.

Work was being done quickly Thursday to give the Arsenal team store a new facade.

The inside of the new team store doors also received a nice Golden Knights touch.

Plus, there was lots of paint applied on the walls of the rink and even along the rink itself.

The upstairs floor also received a makeover.

Next-door to City National Arena Summerlin master developer Howard Hughes Corporation is building the Las Vegas Ballpark for its Triple A minor league baseball team. And when LVSportsBiz.com says it’s next-door, we mean literally next to the ice rink facility. Take a look.
