Take a look at the Las Vegas Aces basketball jersey and you will notice something different from other WNBA team jerseys.

The Aces jerseys lack a marquee sponsorship partner logo across the chest, unlike other teams around the league.

MGM Resorts International, which owns the Aces after moving the franchise from San Antonio this year, has only an MGM lion in the upper corner of the jersey.

In contract, the New York Liberty, the Aces’ opponent Wednesday night at Mandalay Bay Events Center, has DraftKings across the jersey as its marquee partner.

MGM Resorts executive Lance Evans, who handles the business operations for the Aces, said there was not enough time to clinch a marquee partnership deal after the hotel casino and entertainment company bought the old San Antonio Stars and moved them to the Strip.

“I’m OK with it. It looks better. It’s a clean look” without a marquee corporate logo on the front of the Aces jersey, Evans said.

The marquee sponsor on the WNBA jersey is typically a lucrative sponsorship deal and Evans wants to carefully take the time to find the right corporate partner that would support and help grow the Aces team.

The Aces moved to 14-18 with an 85-72 win over the Liberty. The Aces are tied with Dallas for the eighth and final playoff position in the 12-team WNBA. The Aces hit the road to play the Dallas Wings this week before closing the regular season Sunday when Las Vegas plays Atlanta.
