The Vegas Golden Knights are still more than a month away from inaugurating their season, but they already have a rivalry with the San Jose Sharks.
On Twitter, anyway.
The Twitter accounts for the Golden Knights and the Sharks got into quite a tussle Friday afternoon after the Sharks handle posted, “It’s not even October yet and we’re already up on @GoldenKnights #bayareaheatwave.” The post showed the San Jose temperature at 104, two degrees ahead of Las Vegas’ 102 at 2:32 p.m.
Well, that’s when the Golden Knights’ Twitter gloves came off with this post: “Because everybody knows how good @SanJoseSharks are at holding leads.”
Ouch!
(Sadly for the Sharks, the San Jose club does have a notorious track record of blowing playoff leads.)
The Twitter universe weighed in with some very funny memes, with the word, “savage,” also getting some serious play in the Twitter replies to the Golden Knights’ vicious Twitter check.
The Sharks Twitter handle swung back with this meager slapshot, “Really took you 30 minutes to come up with the joke we’ve heard from every single troll?”
Looks like the Golden Knights won this one. A Sharks fan posted in reply to that quip and said, “I’m a @SanJoseSharks fan.. and we lost this battle.. just sayin.”
And for you Jaws movie fans out there, a guy named Mark Hatfield quipped on Twitter, “I think the golden knights bodybag the sharks more than chief brody.”
And Jarrod put it best when he posted back to the Sharks, “A new rivalry has begun.”
